Four Cadets Enjoy Their First Glider Flights

Four cadets from 1051 (Dartford) Squadron recently experienced the thrill of flight as they took part in their very first glider flights at RAF Kenley.
For many young people, flying an aircraft is something they only dream about. For our cadets, that dream became a reality as they climbed aboard a Viking glider and experienced the unique sensation of silent flight, soaring high above the countryside and seeing the world from a whole new perspective.
The experience provided far more than just an exciting day out. Gliding helps develop confidence, resilience and self-belief, encouraging cadets to step outside their comfort zones and embrace new challenges. It is these opportunities that help young people grow both in and out of uniform.
The smiles on landing said it all, with each cadet leaving with unforgettable memories and a newfound appreciation for the world of aviation.
Flying and gliding remain some of the most popular activities within the RAF Air Cadets and are just one of the many incredible opportunities available to our cadets. Whether in the air, on the water, in the field or leading their peers, cadets at 1051 are continually encouraged to challenge themselves and achieve more than they thought possible.
