WHO WE ARE
Situated on Heath Lane, we are one of 33 RAF Air Cadet Squadrons in Kent, with our members living in Dartford and nearby villages. We’re an inclusive organisation that cares about helping young people reach their potential.
A Brief History
1051 (Dartford Borough) Squadron was established on the 26th February 1941. Initially situated at the East Central Boy’s School on Green St Green Road, Dartford.
Parade nights were held on Tuesdays and Thursdays (from 6:30pm to 9:45pm).
The first Officer Commanding was Flt Lt J J Hogbin.
In 1952 we moved to our current site on Heath Lane in Dartford.

Our Cadets #Team1051
There are more than 40,000 cadets Nationally in the UK. We are proud to host 90 cadets at 1051 and although our biggest catchment area is Dartford and its surrounding villages we also accept cadets from other areas.
Being an Air Cadet is a rewarding and fulfilling experience. You can join for however long you want. We’re not a recruiting organisation for the main RAF, so all the skills you learn and experiences you gain will benefit whatever career path you choose.
To be an Air Cadet you must be 13 years old, or 12 years old if you're already in year 8 in school. The latest you can join is before your 17th birthday. Most cadets leave when they're 20 years old and some stay involved as an adult volunteer.
1051 Staff
Our staff team is made up of uniformed and non uniformed volunteers.
Being a volunteer is rewarding and has a lot of different benefits.
-
learn skills in a range of areas
-
develop leadership qualities
-
personal development
-
gain qualifications in areas like mountain leadership, first aid and NVQs
The squadron is also supported by a working committee who assist with fund raising, community engagement and welfare.
We are always looking for volunteers to join the staff team, if you think you could help us please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss the roles with you.
