Add some more info about this item...

For the first time in over ten years a member of 1051 (Dartford) Squadron has been awarded the title of Lord Lieutenant Cadet. Flight Sergeant Faulkner was awarded the prestigious award along with four other cadets in Kent Wing.

Each year the four cadet services nominate cadets to become Lord Lieutenant cadets. If chosen, they are given the opportunity to assist the Lord-Lieutenant at civic and military occasions and, where possible, Royal Visits. They wear the Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet Badge on the right arm and may continue to wear it after the end of their appointment.

On the 27th July 2019 four cadets set off with others in the Wing for Sumemr camp at RAF Leeming. During the week they visited different sections including the RAF Regiment, Signals, Fire and Police sections and Hawk Squadron.

Cadets were able to see what day-to-day life was like in the RAF and get hands on with equipment that members of public would never be allowed access to.

Despite having a mixed bag of weather the cadets thoroughly enjoyed their stay at the camp!

Many thanks to Kent Police for sparing a unit, it was a fantastic experience that both cadets and staff enjoyed.

Earlier this year 1051 Dartford Squdron was fortunate to be nominated to our local ASDA supermarket to participate in their Community Life programme where shoppers could assist the squadron in receiving a cash boost by placing green tokens in a nominated container.

Today we were awarded £500 from this scheme which will go towards buying new equipment and funding activities for the cadets.

We would like to thank all those in our local community who contributed to our cause!
