1051 (Dartford) Squadron
Royal Air Force Air Cadets
A Brief History
1051 (Dartford Borough) Squadron was established on the 26th February 1941. Initially situated at the East Central Boy’s School on Green St Green Road, Dartford. Parade nights were held on Tuesdays and Thursdays (from 6:30pm to 9:45pm). The first Officer Commanding was Flt Lt J J Hogbin. In 1952 we moved to our current site on Heath Lane in Dartford.
The Cadets
At the Sqwho still attend on a Tuesday and Thursday between 7pm - 9.30pm. Although our biggest catchment area is Dartford and its surrounding villages we also accept cadets from other areas. Our cadets are aged from 12 to 20 and although they represent a multitude of different cultures and religions they all share the same goal, to be challenged and have fun.
The Staff
Our staff team is made up of uniformed and non uniformed volunteers. The current officer in charge is Flight Lieutenant K Archer who took command of the Squadron in 2016. The squadron is also supported by a working committee who assist with fund raising, community engagement and welfare. We are always looking for volunteers to join the staff team, if you think you could help us please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss the roles with you.
